Current, new and emerging fertilizer technologies (NEW)
It’s fascinating that all ‘new’ fertilisers still owe their invention to the 1950s and ‘60s. Every new methylene urea or coated technology descends from 70-year-old innovations. This class will discuss these fertilisers and then will talk about the ‘new’ coating technologies, amino acids and bio-added products. Then we will talk about ‘emerging’, covering items such as nanofertilisers. This will not be a sales presentation and while labels will be shown, it will not be done to sell products, but rather to discuss the various release mechanisms and where they may be of value to a greenkeeper or turfgrass manager.
Learning outcomes:
- Get updated with available fertilisers
- Understand fertiliser selection for best value, efficiency and environmental safety
- Discuss new fertilisers and how they may differ from other products
- Become familiar with emerging fertilisers such as those with biologicals
- Legislation and regulations that may affect use
- Become conversant with developing products such as nanotechnologies
