Giving Nature a Home on Your Golf Course – Marking 5-years of the RSPB-R&A Partnership
Golf and nature go hand-in-hand and the opportunities and benefits are almost endless! For 5-years RSPB and R&A have partnered to help promote and provide practical advice for nature on golf courses.
This session will share case studies of golf courses who have delivered ecology projects and the benefits for the golf clubs themselves as well as nature. Ideas and support for practical actions will be shared along with inspiration as organisations in golf work internationally to promote golf and nature.
Presented by:
Dr Marie Athorn
Business Conservation Advisor to The R&A RSPB
Dr Marie Athorn joined the RSPB in January 2020 to undertake the role of Business Conservation Advisor to The R&A as part of the partnership between the RSPB and The R&A. Conservation and ecology have always been her passion and Marie has shaped her career in these fields. Marie has played golf her whole life and felt this role was a great opportunity to combine those two things and use her job to increase awareness and support for biodiversity conservation on golf courses.
